Newsletter:   cost of mailing is $800 over advertising

• Propose online to those receptive
• Need additional long-range advertisers—an action item for everyone*

 

New Member Social—Carl.  Event was successful, with many of the new members attending the wine tour.  Membership stands at approx. 190.

 

Social—Bruce.  Wine and Drive event very successful with 32 people attending.  More info on tour to Polo Match later.  This event was very well planned and publicized.

 

Monthly meetings—Nick.  Main problem with Newark CC was dealing with large bills (folding kind).  Will coordinate with other clubs to share newsletter events, especially guest speakers at future meetings.

 

Southern state events—Chip/Stover.  Hope to have meeting in August  off Rt 20 near Bethany at a member’s shop.

• Cars and Cocktails—July 7:  Chip will have beer and wine as well as catered hors-d’oeuvres (July 8 rain date); this is also a fundraiser for a 55-yr-old who recently died.
• Suggested club support this event monetarily

 

Charitable Contributions:  VIR earnings per group were $7404; charity lap rides earned $1000.  It was voted to contribute $500 in  the name of Lynn Eccles by our Club.

 

Track events—Scott:  HPDC@ Summit has been cancelled due to no contract; problem has been for instructors for one day event running at same time as DE event at Summit.  Looking into Shenandoah for August HPDC or DE.  It was felt that a skid pad was important for clinic.*

• Thunderbolt track nears completion, and  everyone felt it important to book one or both of the guest speakers we previously hosted  at our July meeting.*

 

June meeting—AK:  wants to invite other regions; has prepared special for newsletter, and has specially prepared presentation for the1-2 cyl. Porsche and other history.

 

Tech Session @ Winner June 9, noon to 3:00.  Thank you Gregg.  Mark will make note of this in newsletter.

 

Summer Picnic @ Will  Pyle’s June 16:  budget $500, or $10.00 per person

 

Group Trips—Vince C:  Vintage Grand Prix-Watkins Glen, September 7-9; block of rooms (8-10).  Rennsport Reunion III, Daytona, Nov. 2-4.  Have to commit to room ($99) Ten available, 9 people are committed, others at this price until no longer available.   Cheaper, less nice rooms also available.  See Vince.

• Pittsburgh Vintage race July 13-15; race through streets (Mercedes).  No one has committed to lead a group to this race.
