Delaware PCA Exec Meeting Notes – June 20, 2006

 

Attending

            Mark Weining,  Bob Bloser, Nick Dunlop, and Carl Thompson, AK Kissel, Jon Walton, Stover Babcock, Jane Fox, and Scott McKeon.

 

Approval of May meeting note – Accepted.  It was decided that going forward the notes will go through this approval process before being posted on the Website.

 

Membership – Carl reported six new members were added in May.  Discussions included calling members whose membership was soon to expire. Carl will develop a list of Southern DE and MD members to be called for the two Southern Delaware events.

 

Dover Air Force Base event. – Plans are to arrive about 10 AM.  Chip has agreed to try to reserve a shady spot for the Porsche Club.  Stover volunteered to call the Salisbury MD and Ocean City members.  Chip will call the other members from the Dover and surrounding area.  Carl will lead a drive from Winner Porsche.

 

Past Events were discussed

            Newark Nite – Jon had his car on display.

            German Vehicle Display – AK reported good showing with seven Porsches on display.

            Picnic at Will Pyles place – Good success with 48 people attending – Nick will have an article in the Newsletter.

            George Alderman – Mark thanked Scott and Stover for scheduling George.  All were in agreement that he did an excellent job.  No decision was made as far as a tech session at his facility.  Probably fall.

 

Possible meeting location at a new car dealer on 202 was discussed (Rt. 202 Motors).  Jon has the contact – no decision was made.

 

July and August meetings will not feature speakers – nice weather and more time to just socialize.

 

September Meeting – Perhaps the group that has the detailing contract with Winner Porsche may be a candidate for a tech session (“We Love your car”).

 

Autocross – Christopher Walton will be providing information on an event at Ripkin Stadium on August 13.  Targeting Delaware participation.

 

August tour – Looking for a tour in August – Jon may be available for a tour to Watermans or some similar destination.  Jane will put a note in the newsletter.

 

August 5 – Newark Auto Fest – Not a club event -  May want to have a cruise to the event –

 

September – Vintage Grand Prix and Escape Weekend – Vince is providing publicity  in the Newsletter.

 

Noted that there is a conflict at VIR the same weekend.

 

Hagley Auto Show – Nick is registered to display his car and will speak at the July meeting.

Tech session at Alderman for the September meeting was discussed.

 

Braille Rally scheduled for October 1 – More details to follow.

 

Newsletter – Mark thanked the newsletter team who has done an excellent job in the transition.  Deadlines for the July issue were established.

 

Financials – Stover distributed proposed ad rate schedules.  The rates were approved and Jane will plan to include in the Newsletter.    Bank deposits total $21,800 and Stover has moved 17,500 into money market cds.  Approximately $4,300 left in the bank for operating expenses.

 

Website – Cris reported the meeting notes are now available on the website.

 

Holiday Party Planning – Nick confirmed he will manage the planning of this event.

 

Next Exec meeting will also be at Carl’s on July 18.
