Delaware PCA Exec Meeting Notes – July 18, 2006

 

Attending

            Mark Weining, Bob Bloser,  Carl Thompson, AK Kissell, Jon Walton, Stover Babcock, Scott McKeown, Eric Andes, Doug Nickel, and Scott Clabaugh.

 

Approval of May meeting notes – Accepted.  Cris has posted the notes and going forward, the notes will be placed on the website unless an issue is raised within three days of distribution.

 

Membership – Carl reported five new members last month and will receive the details shortly.  Concern was expressed that total membership seems to remain constant with new members each month.  A fall new member social was discussed and Carl will put together some plans to be discussed.    September / October timeframe was discussed.

 

Past Events

            Dover Air Base Car Show – Twelve people signed up with attendance just below that.  The Porsche Club won the award for “Most members of a club attending”.  Paul Evans has the award and will bring to the next club meeting.  Scott will write something for the newsletter.

 

Upcoming Events

            Chip Clapp is hosting an event at his home on July 22 – Not a club event.

 

            On Sunday July 23, Carl will lead a ride to the Chesapeake PCA sponsored Polo match event. 

 

            August 5th and 6th – Newark Autofest – Not a club event – Saturday is sold out – Sunday is for cars 79 and newer – Some members may participate.

 

            August 10th meeting at Matildas with no scheduled speaker.

 

            Autocross at Ripkin Stadium – August 13.  Chris Walton will put another article in the newsletter promoting this event.  (He will be leading a tour if there is sufficient interest).

 

            August 19 – Dine and Drive – Jon Walton will lead this event – Destination to be determined – may be Watermans, St Michaels ,  ??.

 

            Sept 8-10 – Vintage Grand Prix – Watkins Glen – Vince continues to provide information for this event – Available both in Newsletter and on the Web.

 

            September 19 – Hagley car show – (not a club event) – Nick has signed up to display his car and anyone wanting to do so can contact Nick for information.   Jon will plan to lead an interested group to the show after breakfast at some location to be determined.

 

            September 23 – Club Shrimp and Crab feast and Concours.  Nick is all set with planning of this event.  Both AK and Anthony are on board for assistance.

 

            October 1st – Braille Rally – Scott reported all is in place for this event.  Need at least 10 Porsche drivers (has 4 now).  Meet at Brandywine Springs Park at 1PM – Rally begins at 2PM followed by awards and food.  Scott will arrange for the PCA charitable contribution and contact Winner for help with the tee shirts.  Eric agreed to assist with printing a flyer.  An additional item to be completed is the insurance forms for participants under the age of 18.

 

            October 21 or 28?  - Alderman Shop Tour – Scott will discuss with George Alderman.  Two dates discussed – maybe even November.  Format – whether a club meeting or weekend tech session is unresolved.  If November, perhaps 4, 11, or 18.  Concern expressed with parking with adjacent auto auction.

 

 

Meeting Locations

            Anthony Guzzo has reported that meeting at the Hockessin Fire Hall is an option.  Two concerns for this location are 1) food availability and 2) being located at the outer portion of our region.  Will be discussed further after Anthony returns to the fold.

 

            Doug agreed to revisit his efforts to identify alternate meeting locations that have parting, food, and conducive for speakers.

 

Newsletter – Mark again thanked the new newsletter team for the outstanding job being done.  He requested that articles be send to Anthony by August 23.

 

Website Hosting Charge – Committee agreed to pay charges for this service. 

 

Financials – Stover reported the Treasury is now just short of $22k with the lion’s share in interest drawing instruments.  Additional funds may be returned from our investment in last year’s Porsche Parade.  Stover will check with Jim Becker on this issue.  Stover is also working on specific proposals for the funds and will provide additional details on income and expenses to date.

 

HPDC and Track Report – Doug reported that there will not be a HPDC event this fall and that a Spring event will be considered.

 

Elections – Jon Walton will head up a nominating committee and will select members for the committee.

 

Stationary – Using the club logo, Bob agree to have Kinko’s prepare some stationary and Thank You note forms.
