Mark Weining opening comments.  Mark thanked the group for their support indicating how pleased he was with activities to date.  He reminded all that should anyone have any issues with the club matters, please bring them directly to him for discussion.  We are all volunteering our time and we need to interact in a way that maximizes the participation of all members.

 

Driver ED - VIR

            Both Doug and Jon missed the conference call providing the event status.  No reason to believe there are any issues and between 12 and 16 Delaware members are expected to participate.

            Thunderbolt Raceway – Doug is in early discussions with this new track in Millville with the prospect of getting a weekend event scheduled on their calendar.

 

New Member Social

            Carl Thompson presented a draft of a post card mailing to members joining in 2005 or 2006.  He also distributed a list of these members and all present selected several to call.  The new members will receive a post card invitation, a phone call and an e-mail.  The event will be held at Winner Porsche on May 13 (changed during the meeting at the request of Alex Whitham).  In addition to food and discussion of club activities, the new members can have their car washed during the event.

 

Hershey Swap Meet

            Jon will lead a tour to the swap meet on April 22.

 

Riverfest – Jon discussed this event which is a charitable event to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.  He would like to produce a special “invitation only” auto show at this event on October 15.  As the event was discussed, Jon will work with the event as a not club sponsored event. 

 

Summer Picnic

            June 17 at Will Pyle’s place – Nick had no additional information to report.

Fall Picnic and concours.

            Nick had nothing to report and date has not been finalized.

Fall HPDC

            Doug – No planning has begun for a fall HPDC event.  Mark and Stover will be at the Presidents and will see if Chesapeake region has interest in co-hosting – will also check with Zone 2 rep for guidance.  Doug agreed to proceed with planning a HPDC – to be determined if our club goes solo or with the assistance of another club.

 

Club Tours

            We have two tours on the books – The Swap Meet and Wadkins Glen.  Mike Fox indicated he will be planning a multi-day tour sometime in the summer – more to follow.

 

Autocross

            The event in Newark hosted last year by BMC is hindered by BMC not having insurance.   There were preliminary discussions of how we might co-host this event with BMC.  The issue will be discussed further.

           

 

Auto Shows at the Concord Mall

            AK discussed this event and will provide an article for the newsletter.  AK and Nick showed their cars last year at the event sponsored by British Car Club of Deleware.

 

Meeting Speakers & Meetings

            Scott is presently working with both Pirelli and Mike Levitas for our next meeting.  Doug indicated that Thunderbolt Raceway (Millville NJ) would be available to speak at a future meeting. 

            March meeting will be at Matildas with April being held at MAGP.  Mike Fox agreed to formally contact Matildas when we are planning to meet there to insure adequate preparations.

 

Photo Contest

            Cris reported he needs time to update the website to adequately support the contest.  In the interim he will do his best to post any entries.

 

Newsletter – Hans not present

 

Treasurer’s Report

            Handoff is complete.  Stover reported we have just short of $12,800 in the account.  Main expenses through the winter have been newsletter and meeting expenses.  Bob will send Stover some copies of the old advertising invoices.

 

Zone 2 Presidents Meeting

            At the point, it looks like Mark and Stover will represent the club.
