Delaware PCA Exec Meeting Notes – August 22, 2006
Attending
Mark Weining, Bob Bloser, Carl Thompson, Stover Babcock, Jane Fox, Scott McKeon, Doug Nickel, AK, and Anthony Guzzo.
Mark started the meeting with a moment of silence remembering Paul Obordorfer. The committee agreed to make a club contribution to Paul’s favorite charity in the amount of $100. Bob will work with Stover to make this happen. Additionally AK will have a special award class at this years concours in Paul’s name.
Approval of July meeting notes – Accepted. Now that meeting notes are being posted on the web, Bob will search out previous notes for adding to this repository.
Membership – Carl reported up six members to 182 active. Plans are incomplete for a fall new member social, but Carl will review with Winner Porsche. Tentative date of Nov 4 selected.
Insurance Forms – Mark again stressed the importance of following the PCA Insurance process. The application for moving events must be done in advance allowing PCA time to process. Mark will engage Eric (safety chair) to manage this process.
Past Events
Last weekend drive led by Jon Walton – Jon will provide a newsletter item for the drive which ended at the Hilltop crabhouse.
August meeting was a social event at Mitaldas with good turnout.
Trip to Ripkin for Autocross did not happen.
Watkins Glen DE – no update.
Upcoming Events
September Meeting -Doug reported that we will have a representative from the new Thunderbolt raceway to speak. Will be held at Matildas. Jon will comment on the election process at that meeting.
Scott still working with Pirelli to provide a speaker for a future meeting.
Sept 8-10 – Vintage Grand Prix – Watkins Glen – Vince continues to provide information for this event – Available both in Newsletter and on the Web. Attendees include Jon, Vince, Nick, Kevin Parkhurst, Stover and Jane and Edward Moore.
September 19 – Hagley car show –Jon will be leading a drive to the show after breakfast at Hanks in Chads Ford.
September 23 Now Sept 30– Club Shrimp and Crabfest . Tom McKenna has developed a business conflict and the committee agreed to move the event back one week to Sept 30. Nick will begin communicating the new date immediately. Jon agreed to check with Winner for some “handouts”.
October 1st – Braille Rally – Scott reported all is in place for this event. Need at least 10 Porsche drivers (has 4 now). Meet at Brandywine Springs Park at 1PM – Rally begins at 2PM followed awards and food. Scott will arrange for the PCA charitable contribution and contact Winner for help with the tee shirts. Eric agreed to assist with printing a flyer. An additional item to be completed is the insurance forms for participants under the age of 18.
October 21 or 28? - Alderman Shop Tour – Scott will discuss with George Alderman. Two dates discussed – maybe even November. Format – whether a club meeting or weekend tech session is unresolved. If November, perhaps 4, 11, or 18. Concern expressed with parking with adjacent auto auction.
Newsletter – Anthony will prepare the September Newsletter – Deadline August 27 –
Financial Report
Stover reported the club treasury at approx $22,561 with $17,500 in interest producing CDs. An e-mail has been sent to the board with all the details.
DE events have produced the majority of the funds.
Social events have been a net cost.
The Newsletter is carrying itself.
2005 Parade proceeds still unknown.
Discussions of partnering of a DE at the new Thunderbolt Track are still pre-mature.
Meeting Locations
October and November club meetings will be held at McGleyns (sp) in the Peoples Plaza.
HPDC – At the Sept Exec mtg, we will review proposed budget for a Spring HPDC.
Elections – Jon Walton will head up a nominating committee and will select members for the committee.
